About Little Pond Press

We are a small independent publisher, making books for children who are still deciding what color a dinosaur ought to be.

Little Pond Press started with a simple complaint. Buy a coloring book for a four-year-old and there is a good chance you are buying the same twenty-four pictures printed twice, with a page count on the cover that counts both. Children notice. They turn the page, find the unicorn they colored on Tuesday, and lose interest.

So we set one rule before we made anything: every design in every book is different. If the cover says forty-eight pages, that is forty-eight different pictures. It is a small promise, and keeping it is most of the work.

From there the catalog grew the way these things do, one request at a time. Dinosaurs, because a nephew asked. Big Brother and Big Sister, because a friend needed something to give an older child when the news arrived. Picture books, because not every quiet moment wants a crayon.

What we hold ourselves to

• Every design is unique. No page is ever repeated inside a book, and no page is reused between books.
• Single-sided printing. Markers bleed. Coloring one picture should never destroy another.
• Lines suited to the age on the cover. Thicker outlines and simpler shapes for the three-year-olds, more detail for the sevens.
• Every page checked at full size before it prints. Someone looks at all forty-eight, one at a time, and sends back the ones that are not right.
• Nothing frightening. Our Halloween book is spooky-cute and stops there.

How our books are made

Our illustrations are created with AI tools and then reviewed by hand, page by page, before anything goes to print. A person picks every scene, checks every drawing, and throws out the ones that are not right. Plenty get thrown out.

We think that is worth saying plainly rather than leaving you to wonder.
